2. How do you edit my manuscript or document? [Top]
Documents are typically read a minimum of three times during the editing process. The first read provides the editor with an overview of the content, layout and structure, style, flow and consistency. On the second the editor makes copy editing corrections to the text. The edited document is read a third time, usually by a second editor, for quality control purposes.
3. How do I get my document edited? [Top]
- Decide on the type of service you require (copy editing, re-editing, proofreading) - see Our Services.
- Decide on the turnaround time required (standard or express service) - see Fees & Charges.
- Submit your document to AdeptEdit as an email attachment (preferred), or by fax or mail - see Submit A Document.
- The document is edited and returned to you by the method we receive it, or at your instruction.
- AdeptEdit works with you over a reasonable period to clarify any matters arising from the editing process.
4. What file format should I use? [Top]
We prefer documents prepared using Microsoft Word. Documents in this format can be emailed directly to us. If your document was prepared with different word processing software, just save it as a Rich Text Format file (RTF; see Submit A Document), and email this file to us.
5. What is the turnaround time for AdeptEdit's services? [Top]
Using the standard service, your document should be returned within 6 business days. With the express service your document should be returned within 2-5 business days, depending upon your requirements.
6. What about privacy? [Top]
AdeptEdit adheres to a policy of strict client confidentiality and privacy (see our Privacy Policy).
7. What will the editing cost me? [Top]
AdeptEdit's fees are based on (i) the size of your document (word count), and (ii) how quickly you need the work done. For pricing and to estimate the cost of a editing a particular document, see Fees & Charges. You can also obtain a free, no-obligation quotation (see Free Quote) for any service.
8. How do I pay for the service? [Top]
After the editing process and any subsequent consultation is finalised, AdeptEdit sends you an itemized invoice for the work. You pay the invoice within 14 days by secure internet credit card payment, cheque or funds transfer.
9. Is payment over the internet secure? [Top]
Internet payment by credit card occurs through the secure payment area on our bank's website (see Secure Payment). AdeptEdit at no time sees or has access to your credit card details. When you are ready to pay the invoice you are transferred from AdeptEdit's website to the bank's secure website, where payment details are entered. The National Australia Bank maintains state-of-the-art online payment security systems to protect your credit card and payment details during this process.
10. Is client satisfaction guaranteed? [Top]
AdeptEdit is confident that you will be completely satisfied with our service. We will be happy to consult with you during the 10 business days following return of your document, to resolve any queries you may have regarding the editing.
